At the Monopolka studio, you can order a custom-designed engagement ring. How does collaboration with designer Gosia Szewczyk work? What are the stages of the project? What do you need to know before we start working on your ring?

Our collaboration begins with a conversation. The most important thing for me is to understand your expectations and faithfully capture your dream in the design. I'm happy to explain the entire process, advise on stone selection or gold color, and suggest a style that suits the person perfectly.

We can arrange an in-person meeting at the studio in Gdańsk (Google pin). On site, you'll see my signature designs, which often serve as a great starting point for discussing style, proportions, colors, and details. In my shop, you can view gold rings, silver rings with colored stones, and gold-plated rings up close.

Information Needed for the Design

On starting a custom engagement ring project, we need to gather a few key details.

• Ring size: Measure as accurately as possible, e.g., with calipers on an existing ring or at a jewelry store.
• Metal: 585 gold in yellow is most popular, but options abound. I can craft in silver, gold, or platinum.
• Stones: Natural brilliants come to mind first, but lab-grown diamonds are gaining huge popularity. We have the widest selection in colored stones, led by topaz, ruby, and emerald engagement rings.

Style: Her current jewelry is a great starting point—photos of her jewelry box are invaluable. If a ring from my portfolio catches your eye, that's a big clue for the direction we'll take.

Budget and Timeline

After our initial chat, I can estimate the approximate cost of your original engagement ring and the time required. Costs include design and craftsmanship, stones, and gold.

Timeline depends on stone availability—local or from overseas cutters. If the stone is in Poland and specs are clear, your dream ring can be ready in two weeks. A safe timeline is one month.

Once we have all the info, I create three hand-drawn sketch options. Then I select stones and craft a hand-carved wax model or 3D model. It's cast in gold at a foundry in Poznań. The raw casting needs grinding and polishing before setting the stones.
